Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for takeaway food. No, I don't mean the sort that you buy...I mean food that I can make that is healthy and requires no heating. Occationally my Dh and I are out and we don't plan to eat till late but Mia need to eat. What can I make that is easy to give her...esp, dinner time.
I am sick of making her sandwhiches. Not very interesting.
Any suggestions...?
We like to have in the fridge/freezer for times like this -Quiche, Fried Rice, home made pizzas and when Erin needs feeding right now when we get home she has a few baked beans- she loves them.

Arwen loves:
Tri-colour mini pasta (cook) then add tuna (in springwater) and grated tasty cheese.
Vege sausage rolls - Vegie mix, grated carrot, zucchini, onion, corn, peas. (nice hot or cold)
Salmon/vege patti - make a batch, throw them in the freezer. Heat and serve with steamed corn, carrots and spuds.
Risotto - again, make a batch and keep some in the freezer.
Fresh fuit salad/yoghurt.
Will think about more.

We did pizzas on muffins last night, took a whole 10 minutes to prepare and probably as long in a hot oven.
How about keeping some boiled eggs in the fridge,
I like to keep fruit cut up
Ewan likes salads so I will make up a different salad every couple of days, don't add any dressing until needed.
yep baked beans are always handy

Lisa, I just used your pasta, tuna and cheese idea for lunch for Charlie. So quick and easy and he loved it! Always good when you can add something else to the lunchtime repetoire. I get bored, even if he doesn't!

We do a lot of picnics and snacks out and about. Mostly just take an assortment of things - have lots of those small plastic containers. Sultanas, cheese cut into cubes or fingers, sunflower seeds (or sunflower and pepita mix), carrot sticks, plain rice crackers or cakes or corn thins (and a little jar of vegemite for James ;)), boiled eggs, dips (hummous, homemade ones using quark or philidelphia cheese as a base with things like tuna, corn or grated cucumber through them). Flask of soup.

i often pack zoe several little containers with - cut up cheese, a few rice crackers, sultanas or other dried fruit, sometimes deli meat and a piece of fruit - like a mandarin. Zoe also likes the small tins of flavoured tuna with some corn thins.

we do baked beans, cut up raw veggies (carrot, corn snow peas etc), and the fav at the moment is (drum roll)- a jar of cold organic baby food- yes he is 2 and a half but LOVES this... the 4 month age ones. Must be eaten straight from the jar with a spoon....
